How I'm Teaching Letters To My Toddlers
66
Creating A Desire To Learn
Each day I try to spend a few minutes teaching letters to my 3 year old daughter and 21 month old son. My goal is to teach my children early on that learning can be fun and exciting so they will always enjoy learning new things.
If you really think about it, kids make you reevaluate your own self. You are their example. They want to be just like you. So when I'm teaching letters to them I try to make it as interesting and fun for me as I can so my excitement will rub off on them!
Make A Plan
Some say things won't ever happen if you don't plan it out first. Here are some good tips in how to start teaching letters to your children this week.
Pick one letter a week and build on it through out the week.
- Teach them that this letter has an upper case and lower case
- Each time you see the letter through out the day, point to it and get your child to sound the letter out with you. This is great especially when you're at breakfast looking at the cereal box or out on a grocery shopping errand.
- Buy some toys and games that will reinforce the letter as they play through out the week
- Let your child watch some DVD's teaching letters

Teaching Letters Using Brainy Baby Board Books
My children love the Brainy Baby Board Books! At the end of ABC Tab Book they have a list of the ABC's. I call out different letters and ask them to point to them. When they do, I take their index finger and trace over the letter with them and repeat the sound the letter makes. They have such a good series of learning books for children. We own the shapes and colors, and numbers. You can look for more at Amazon!
